Don’t bin it, bring it

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Has your kettle run out of steam? Got any old electricals lying around at home? From laptops to cameras, from battery-operated toys to toasters, from power drills to mobile phones, you can recycle the lot.

Recycle Now has launched a new campaign – Don’t bin it, bring it – designed to highlight the need and facilities for recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

The campaign is being supported by a minute-long animation, ‘Printer Vs Bin’, recreating a Tarantino style duel between an obsolete printer and a wheelie bin. The aim of the film (which we made in a warehouse in 3 days with a digital stills camera and a laptop) is to remind people not just to throw their electricals away.

According to research conducted recently, 30 per cent of UK residents have never recycled an electric or electronic device. Recycle Now believes that this is due to a lack of information and has unleashed an interactive Regeneration Game, in which users put in their postcode to find out details about their nearest recycling facilities.

Team Rubber votes Onion Bhaji

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Walkers recent ‘Do Us A Flavour’ campaign encouraged the public to send in their ideas for a new crisp flavour. Six finalists were chosen, ready for scrutiny from the Nation’s public: Chilli & Chocolate, Onion Bhaji, Fish & Chips, Cajun Squirrel, Crispy Duck & Hoisin and Builder’s Breakfast.

The Team Rubber crew blind tasted them and came up with pretty conventional results, ranking the Onion Bhaji flavoured crisps on top, only one vote ahead Cajun Squirrel. Here is our Top 6 (6 points were given for a first choice, 5 for a second and so on):

1. Onion Bhaji, 44 points
2. Cajun Squirrel, 43
3. Builder’s Breakfast, 34
4. Fish & Chips, 25
5. Chilli & Chocolate, 23
6. Crispy Duck & Hoisin, 18

The last three were awful, but we escaped at least some even worse suggestions. The following ten ar genuine entries:

Manhattan arrives in London

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

To celebrate the UK release of Zack Snyder’s movie, London’s Thames gave birth to a Watchmen spectacle that was beyond the thinkable. The blue skinned, super-powered Dr Manhattan appeared above the murky depths of the river to a height of over 70 feet thanks to the world’s biggest water screen projector.

Lichtfaktor – light graffiti artist collective

These guys certainly won’t have any problems with the authorities. The Cologne based collective uses glow sticks, flash lights, torches and the like to create their ephemeral art. Beautiful! www.myspace.com/lichtfaktor

TicTac Micha…

I found this video amazing – “Micha” plays music using tictac boxes – including tictac panpipes, tictac drums, and tictacs dropping on cymbals.

Golf Course Moonwalking Prank

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

I found this video on YouTube and found it hilarious – I don’t know where he got that astronaut costume, let alone the springs on his feet, but he can defiantly out-run a golfer on them… especially when he’s trying to plant his flag on the vast expanse of the green.
